This challenging Project Manager position involves delivering a range of services including:  Feasibility studies, long-range planning studies, and full design including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and services during construction. Project delivery platforms include design/bid/build and design/build and our project schedules may be fast-tracked.
In addition to your architectural studio colleagues, you will be working with multi-discipline teams including environmental, civil, structural, mechanical, fire protection, I&C, electrical, IT, and other specialty engineers.

We do both internal and client participatory design charettes, or group brainstorming design workshops. The successful candidate will not only be comfortable working this way, but will be an enthusiastic supporter of the process who brings innovative ways to improve it.

The Project Manager position will also participate in business development and project pursuits, including the preparation of proposals and presentations to our clients and industry, stay abreast of technological developments, and attend technical and professional society meetings and seminars.  Thus, this PM will also act as a “client service manager” helping to develop new business as a result of being an effective manager.  This person may be an Architect with significant experience in the water, wastewater and industrial environment; or this person may be a Civil Engineer, who wants to lead a team from the perspective of an architect’s office.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The CAD/ BIM Manager will be based in our Pleasanton office and provide leadership and management of the overall CAD/BIM process primarily within our US operations but may also provide support to international operations. The successful CAD Manager will work to improve the efficiency of CAD efforts by implementing and enhancing current CAD standards, organizing the CAD and BIM environment, training and supervision of CAD and BIM users and effective communication with both internal and external clients.

Detailed responsibilities for the CAD Manager will include:

  • Assist in the development, implementation, enforcement and maintenance of corporate CAD/BIM standards and standardized drawings (symbols, title blocks, borders, etc.);
  • Provide technical support for all CAD/BIM applications;
  • Develop standards and provide technical support for interface with CAD/BIM applications and other software utilized within the offices.
  • Provide expert level production CAD/BIM support to internal project teams;
  • Provide support for plotting and electronic file submissions;
  • Interact on project standards coordination with clients;
  • Provide training and supervision of in-house CAD/BIM users;
  • Customize CAD/BIM applications as appropriate;
  • Generate written technology evaluations for future software adoption;
  • Interface with CAD/BIM reseller and provide budget input for all CAD technology items;
  • Develop training budgets and overall scope for user training;
  • Manage and maintain CAD/BIM details library/archive and retrieval for projects;
  • Communicate to management regarding the implementation of new graphic technology;
  • Provide leadership, strategic planning and vision to the firm in the area of CAD/BIM; and
  • Assist offices with the evaluation and hiring of qualified CAD/BIM operators and designers.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

The CAD/BIM Manager must have functional mastery with all aspects of the following applications:

  • AutoCAD 2010 or later
  • REVIT 2010 or later

And must have functional familiarity with most aspects of the following applications:

  • Sketch-Up 8
  • Adobe CS5 (primarily PhotoShop) or later
  • Microsoft Windows Network environment

Additional requirements:

  • Knowledge of drawing and editing commands, including applicable drafting techniques;
  • Plotting and archiving drawing files;
  • Customizing of software for internal uses;
  • Ability to create and maintain established company format standards for CAD/BIM applications;
  • Programming skills - VBA (Visual LISP or .NET Basic for Applications – desired but not required;
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant progressively responsible positions;
  • 4 year degree preferred in related discipline;
  • 3- 5 years experience with CAD in a professional services environment, preferably in an A/E firm;
  • 1-3 years of BIM experience (REVIT preferred);
  • Quality and customer service focus;
  • Dynamic self-starter and ability to lead a team of professionals;
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation/training skills a must;
  • Autodesk Certification a plus; and
  • Mandarin language skills a plus.
