Whether you are an Architect, Intern, Designer, or Engineer, you are invited to join The American Institute of Architects in one of these categories:

Architect Member (AIA)
I am licensed to practice architecture in U.S. State or Territory.

Associate Member (Assoc. AIA)
Open to individuals who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • I am an intern participating in career responsibilities and working toward licensure

  • I work under the supervision of an architect

  • I hold a degree in architecture

  • I am a faculty member in a university program in architecture

  • Are you a recent graduate? Those with architectural degrees can receive up to 18 months' complimentary Associate membership. Click here for the application. (Complimentary membership applies for 18 months after graduation.)

Allied Individual Member
I do not hold a degree in architecture but share a special interest in the built environment as a professional colleague or enthusiast.

Emeritus
I have been a member of the AIA for 15 successive years and I am either 70 years of age, or 60 years of age and fully retired from the profession.
